Earth Day 2007 Events

Here is a list of events hosted by CIPL members around Earth Day 2007.

St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, Orinda
April 22nd: Earth Day Service, 10:00AM
The service will be followed by Blessing of Trees for parishioner homes. Then, a "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle," exhibit at Coffee Hour will include: packaging, cleaning products, and garden products which incorporate recycled, biodegradable, non-toxic materials; everyday items (clothing, carpeting, etc) made from recycled materials; Resource guides and literature for energy saving, composting, and recycling. Purchase a St. Stephen's Caring for Creation cloth grocery bag (think how much paper you'll save, while spreading the word about our church)! Information regarding installing home solar panels, including analysis of energy savings, CO2 emission reduction, cost of installation, and financing details. Children's Activities.

Culver Palms United Methodist Church, 4464 Sepulveda Blvd., Culver City
Earth Month Events:
Sunday mornings, beginning on Easter, April 8. Worship celebrating and promoting the renewal of the earth, culminating in the guest appearance of Dr. Matthew Sleeth on April 29.
Friday, April 20, 6-8:30 pm, Stories to Sustain the Earth, A Family EventFeaturing foods, crafts and sharing the wisdom of the ages, including multi-cultural tales of caring for the earth.
Saturday, April 21, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Electronic E-waste Round Up in the Church Parking Lot in cooperation with California Recycles
Saturday, April 21st, 2 pm. Donald Strauss, A presenter from Climate Project. Mr. Strauss is one of the 1,000 environmental “foot soldiers” trained as a follow-up to the documentary film, “An Inconvenient Truth.”
April 20 Family storytelling - focus on the environment 6PM.
April 21 Electronic Waste Round Up 10AM- 2PM.
April 22 Earth Day Service 9 AM, 10:45 AM, 6PM.

Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, Long Beach
Earth Day speaker April 22, TBA.

April 14: Members of Holy Nativity parish and their surrounding communitywill participate in the StepItUp National Day of Climate Action. They'll march down the sidewalks of Sepulveda Blvd near Los Angeles International Airport, with banners calling for climate action. 12 noon to 2 pm. Details on the campaigns page of the Environmental Change-Makers website

April 26: "What You Can Do About Global Warming." Environmental author Joanne Poyourow will lead an evening packed with practical tips and solutions. A representative from Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will highlight Green Power and energy conservation. 7-9 pm. Free.
